Building resilient health systems for a changing climate
This consultation will convene senior health systems experts and leaders in the WHO European Region to gather their insights, priorities, practical experiences and advice on the enablers, challenges and opportunities to drive climate-health action in the health sector. The session will focus on practical approaches and solutions to strengthen health systems in the face of climate change. Experts will share insights and results from adaptation and mitigation strategies, highlight innovative approaches, and explore policy actions that can accelerate health systems resilience across the Region.
The discussion aims to provide the Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health with actionable recommendations to ensure health systems remain robust, responsive and climate-ready – protecting populations, delivering high quality care and safeguarding health equity.
Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health
The Commission is an independent advisory group convened by WHO/Europe in June 2025 to raise the political profile, awareness and support for stronger action to address the health impacts of climate change. Through a series of 3 hearings and 2 special consultations with leading experts in the areas of climate change and health, the Commission will review evidence and experiences to develop final recommendations for accelerated health and climate action, which will be presented during the World Health Assembly in May 2026.
